A perfect Sydney Autumn day was on show for the return to Stonecutters Ridge, with a somewhat disappointing field of 23 golfers ready for the Master Builders game.

The course is a fun layout with generous driving areas, although if you are too wide the rough was like a jungle, with tight couch fairways and plenty of run off into water hazards. The greens are protected by well placed bunkering, but sadly the greens were substandard due to damage caused by recent disease attack. Hopefully they make a recovery over winter and are back to their best by spring.

The scores were a little higher than usual on average, with four players scoring 36 points or more, and 18 of the 23 players getting to 30 points or above.

The dinner following the game was well received an it was great to see a few new members and a scattering of visitors amongst the crowd.

I would like to mention that our winner today, Portia Hill, is a very talented young lady golfer, who has aspirations of joining the professional ranks in the future. We wish her all the best in pursuing her goal and we hope she joins us again soon.
