The weather forecast was disturbingly accurate with a strong southerly front rolling through Sydney in the early hours of Wednesday morning, bringing strong winds and showers.

A few golfers found the prospect of an uncomfortable and wet game too much and cancelled. The club would like to praise the intrepid 27 players who played on through the crook weather to help create an ultimately very enjoyable day at this fine course.

The general condition of the fairways was great while the greens were a few weeks from perfection after the spring renovation. The rain was light for most of the afternoon with two heavy showers late in the afternoon making the warmth of the club house very inviting.

Once again it was great to see a few new members and some visitors joining us along with a few guys we have not seen for a while. Golfing was difficult in these conditions and three of the 27 starters played to their handicap or better, with the average score about 28 points.

An indication how difficult play was on the day is that we managed 54 shots at the two par 3 nearest the pin holes and Greg Garling was the only golfer to hit either of the greens. On the other hand, Paul Watsons score of 43 points off a handicap of 13 deserves a special mention, a great score in the conditions.

The club provided us with a fine meal to cap off a successful day.

In the absence of this years National Tournament in October we have arranged a game at Liverpool on Tuesday October 13, I look forward to seeing you all there.
