Captain’s Report – The Lakes Golf Club 11/03/2024
Another warm and humid day in Sydney for our March game although about 15 degrees cooler the corresponding day last year.
30 Golfers were ready to go at 1pm and a gentle northeaster was just enough to make things interesting.
Friend of the MBE golf club and pro golfer, John Lyras, joined us for a game with his dad Peter and had not played the lakes since round 2 of the Australian open last November. He enjoyed the relatively short tees and managed to shoot 6 under, which included 2 bogies. The highlight of his game was driving the 338 metre first hole to about 15 feet but unfortunately just missed the putt.
John is on his way next week to play in Singapore and India before heading to the states to compete in the 2024 Cornferry tour, and we wish him all the best.
Great to see a good number of visitors, mainly due to the efforts of Barry and Noah and they all looked very happy to be out there with us.
The Lakes once again looked after us firstly with a wonderfully presented course followed by an excellent buffet dinner enjoyed by all.
Golf scores were down a little as expected with a couple of 35 pointers being the best individual efforts from our group and the average being around 24 points.
Congratulations to the following winners:
