Captain's Report

Captain’s Report – Bankstown Golf Club 04/03/2025

Perfect weather conditions were on show for the long awaited return to Bankstown Golf Club with some light rain in the morning to just soften up the course a little.

After much coming and going with applications to play we ended up with 27 players, which included 7 visitors who we hope enjoyed themselves and will return.

We all loaded into the brand new carts for our shotgun start and were treated to a golf course in the best condition possible, with perfect fairways and immaculate greens.

While very flat with reasonably wide fairways Bankstown is protected by its length, with all par 4s between 350 and 390 metres long and very little natural run on the kykuriu fairways.

This makes scoring quite difficult with no player in the field playing to there handicap and the average score being around 27 points.

Following our game we were treated to a superb Italian banquet prepared by Mario Libertini from his excellent restaurant now operating at the club, well worth a visit on its own.

During the presentation, Steve Fanale from The Golfer Network, had a chat to us about his new online platform for golf nuts. I encourage everyone to join up for free and hope we can begin to communicate together as a group.

This was round two of THE ROAD TO CONCORD, and if you click the button below, you will see the updated result sheet with the round 1 leader crashing back to earth. Watch this space.
