Captain’s Report – Concord Golf Club 2019
A warm, windy and smokey day was served up for the Annual Christmas Game at Concord Golf Club.
38 keen golfers assembled for the afternoon start, with the 2019 Grandfather’s Cup up for grabs.
The breeze picked up just before the start and increased in strength throughout the afternoon. This course is known for its demanding Par 4’s and any holes into the wind played very tough. Add to the wind, the fact that the greens had just been spiked and it certainly was a challenging day.
Great to see some old faces return, a few new members and a handful of visitors, to make our final game of 2019 a great event.
The scores were higher than expected with three players playing to their handicap or better and 24 players scoring 30 points or more, which was pretty good given the conditions.
With the wind up the course became shrouded in smoke throughout the back nine making visibility and breathing difficult, the 19th hole could not come quickly enough.
As ever the club put on an excellent spred for dinner and the room was filled with Christmas Cheer.
Reynold presided over a quick AGM and the presentation followed.
