The annual match between Sydney and Newcastle Builders Golf Club was held at the challenging Pymble golf course, for the second year in succession under blue Sydney skies.

With the Newcastle team of 27 players making the trip down the freeway to try and regain the trophy, won by Sydney last year at the same venue.

Sydney assembled 25 players, including a couple of new members and a few visitors to do their best to hold onto the cup.

The course was a little wet underfoot, after heavy rain a few days earlier, and our thanks go out to the staff, who decided to allow us to use the motorised carts.

The greens were a little slow due to the recent renovations and the first cut of rough was very punishing. The place to be, of course was on the pristine fairways which allowed only moderate run, and the course played tough, despite the moderate slope rating of 124. This showed in the scores with three players shooting 36 points, and only 19 of the 52 starters compiling 30 or more points.

The BBQ dinner was well received, and its always great to see the camaraderie between the two clubs at the annual get together.

As if normally the case, the main match was very close with Sydney holding on to the trophy four to three.
