Captain’s Report – The Lakes 2018
Every golfer enjoys the challenge of playing The Lakes and an assembly of 41 master builder players turned up for the mid-winter game.
The weather once again was very challenging with strong south westerly winds blowing at 20 to 30kmp had us all ducking for cover, luckily it only rained for a couple of holes, so everyone managed to stay out on the course for the whole day which was a great challenge for all.
Great to see a group form Newcastle and several other members bought visitors along to enjoy the challenging lakes.
Off the blue markers and a slope rating of 137 meant an extra shot for most players but the course, as always, had plenty of trouble to the left and right and with the wind, the degree of difficulty was increased. This was reflected in the scores with only a couple of members playing over their handicap.
The game was followed by a hot shower and catch-up drink in the bar an an excellent buffet dinner.
We would also like to thank the staff and management of The Lakes golf club for providing us with an excellent golf course and great club amenities for our game, and we look forward to our return in 2019.
